Throughout this course, I found that the readings, discussions, workshops, and interactive games played a crucial role in keeping me engaged and on track. I appreciated how these assignments encouraged me to stay consistent in my learning, as they provided structure and motivation. Online classes can sometimes be a struggle, and it’s easy to let tasks slide. However, the various activities gave me a reason to complete assignments and actively participate, which enhanced my understanding of the material.

I found Olalekan’s teaching to be excellent; he was very engaging with students, and I was able to feel his passion for the subject through the way he taught, which made it much easier to understand the topics.

Professor Balogun created a positive atmosphere throughout the course. He seemed very passionate and excited to share his research with us and teach us about the content. I enjoyed his half of the course and am curious to learn more about research related to his field. I liked that we had open discussions about content, and he encouraged us to ask questions as well as engage with the material.

I am enjoying all the activities of GENV so far. We are given games or fun activities along with the assignments which makes the study much more fun. The labs are also so interesting and teaches the concept through practical knowledge. It helps to develop an interest and willingness to know more about geography.

I attended a few of your excellent training sessions last summer and then taught a synchronous grad course in the MES program, where I benefitted much from your advice. I could not have done this without your critical help. It worked like a charm.

I loved his demeanour and personality, and I really believe his teaching style kept me and other students engaged throughout class. The material could be challenging at times, and if it were taught by a professor who was less passionate, it would have been harder to absorb and understand the material being taught. But Olalekan knew how to keep students interested.

Your lectures have been extremely interesting and captivating. It is such a refreshing moment to turn on your lecture and see the neat intro and music, compared to alot of other courses that are so monotone. This course has had me active and interested the whole semester. I view this course as a break from all of my stressful…courses and something I can get lost in. Please keep your passion for this subject going through your lectures, it is the BEST way to teach us.

The competitions, games, and visual learning part is something I absolutely loved. Also, the passion with which he taught really motivated me to learn. I also loved that while the course was going on, he asked us how he could help us learn better and actually listened to the review.

I really enjoyed this course! I felt that all the material helped me reach my academic goals. Everything kept me engaged, and I could tell you did a great job keeping my attention while making the subject enjoyable. It was clear you loved what you were teaching and it made me want to learn and interact with everything as well. For one, I never thought I would ever enjoy learning and looking at rocks but now I am always picking them up and checking what rocks they are.

Mr. Balogun showed up to class every day with a smile on his face, and I could tell how passionate he was about both climate change and teaching. It truly made showing up to class each day very enjoyable and a pleasure to partake in his class.

Prof. Olalekan supports the students and prioritizes learning over memorizing. His teaching style is extremely entertaining, and the slides are concise and to the point.

The interactive games, quizzes, and videos really helped me learn a lot. Also, the way the professor made the class fun by interacting with us, and just him wanting to teach us and with the passion he taught, it really made me want to learn.

I find the readings in this class and the interactive games have helped me the most with my learning. I am a very visual learner, so the games helped me remember terms better than just studying. I enjoy GENV 121 so much and the videos and course labs help my overall understanding of each subject.

Honestly, in terms of content, you have provided a lot of tools to allow us to learn and understand. I also appreciate how diverse these tools have been, really touching on the various ways of learning with interactive games, answering questions, being quizzed, applying our knowledge in labs, and learning through the zooms.
